GA (General Assistance) Program

Centralia Township provides General Assistance to those in need who are not eligible for other State (TANF) or Federal (SSI) assistance, and do not have the financial resources to provide for their own needs. Generally for the township medical card you must be denied and DHS (IDPA) Medical Card and meet certain pre qualification needs for life sustaining medications in 1 of 4 areas.

The Township provides temporary assistance until the person can find a more permanent program. While on the program, they receive help paying for medication & doctor visits.

General Assistance applications are processed in accordance with the standards approved by the Department of Human Services (Public Aid) Family Community Resource Center.
